Group 6 members are descendants of William(?) Whittamore (b c 1540, Hitchin, Herttfordshire). Two of the participants are descended from the 17th century American immingrant, Thomas Whittemore of Charlestown and Malden, Massachusetts, while a third is descended from the English line. We know that the ancestors of all three men were two nephews of Thomas Whittamore, Sen. of Hitchin, and that their father was probably his brother William, but the available records from the period do not make the father's name certain, thus the(?) after William's name. A fourth participant has not yet provided us with his lineage. He is an American and may also be descended from the 17th century American immigrant, or from a later emigration from England. 67+ Markers list for this group. The lack of information on the lineage of Kit 107356 is especially frustrating because it might help to resolve the point at which the mutations of the others occurred. The two men who are descended from Thomas of Malden and Charlestown are exact matches on 37 markers. They differ by a genetic distance of two from their English cousin. Kit 107356 is "in between" and differs by only a genetic distance of one from each of the others. It is quite possible that his is the ancestral haplotype.
